The PHHS color guard team performs choreographed dance routines in conjunction with the PHHS marching band and independently at indoor competitions.

Color guard is a combination of various dance and equipment (flag, rifle, saber) techniques. It provides an opportunity for a student to grow and express themselves musically. It gives students the ability to develop in areas such as team building, time management, and problem solving, to name a few. During the fall season, performers work with the marching band in order to create a field show, which they will perform at home football games. They will also perform at competitions, where they compete against other high school marching bands.

Winter Guard is very similar to Color Guard. The major difference being, the competitions are held indoors, typically in gymnasiums utilizing a specially designed floor. Students use the same equipment as color guard (flag, rifle saber) to compete with other schools to choreographed routines. Winter Guard takes place after the fall marching season.
